MandaWE Smile
Funding corrective cleft lip and palate surgery so Mandaue's children can face tomorrow with a smile — 65 patients helped, with 150+ still on the waitlist.
In the Philippines, roughly one in every 1,000 babies is born with a cleft lip or palate. Beyond the physical condition — which makes feeding, speaking, and even breathing harder — these children often carry an invisible weight: low self-esteem, fear of humiliation, and the social stigma that follows them through life. For many families, the corrective surgery that could change everything is simply out of reach.
That is the gap MandaWE Smile was built to close. The Merry Men of JCI Mandaue raise the funds and rally the partners needed to give cleft patients access to corrective surgery — restoring not just a smile, but the confidence to learn, make friends, and live a full life. It is care that treats the whole person, not just the lip.
Since its launch in 2023, the program has generated ₱1.4 million and helped 65 patients receive the surgery they needed. The work is far from finished — more than 150 patients remain on the waitlist — so MandaWE Smile keeps fundraising, surgery after surgery, helping these children face tomorrow with a smile.
