JCI Mandaue, through its Sagop Bakhaw initiative, continues its mission to restore and protect Mandaue’s coastal ecosystems. For our second stop at Barangay Umapad (South Mangrove Patch), we planted 500 additional Miyapi seedlings in alignment with JCI Philippines’ Think Green National Program, themed “Promoting Environmental Sustainability and Long-term Ecological Stewardship.”
This mangrove forest is Mandaue City’s last remaining forest, serving as a vital ecological shield that protects coastal communities, supports marine biodiversity, and strengthens climate resilience. In collaboration with the Mandaue City Agriculture Office and the Mandaue Fisherfolk Association, we also took the opportunity to discuss the livelihood challenges of local fisherfolk and map out future Sagop Bakhaw stops across Mandaue’s remaining coastal barangays.
We were joined by soon to be affiliated JJC Sugbo Aspirants, young leaders eager to take part in this growing movement for environmental sustainability.
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, donors, and partners—your support helps us protect and restore Mandaue’s last natural forest, ensuring its sustainability for generations to come.
