Pet Pet de Sarapen
A movement for responsible pet ownership and animal welfare in Mandaue — turning empathy for strays into a kinder, more loving pet community.
Behind every stray dog and cat wandering the streets of Mandaue is a story of neglect or hard luck — and a community that often does not know where to turn. Pet Pet de Sarapen, led by Khem Villamor, was born from exactly that empathy: a conviction that animals deserve care, and that responsible pet ownership makes for healthier, happier neighborhoods.
The Merry Men of JCI Mandaue rally pet owners, adoptive families, and local shelters around this cause through advocacy drives, adoption efforts, and education on responsible care. The goal is simple but enduring — fewer strays on the street, more pets in loving homes, and a culture where caring for animals is second nature.
What makes the project remarkable is its staying power. Over seven years, Pet Pet de Sarapen has generated ₱2 million in funds to sustain its mission — proof that a dream rooted in compassion can grow into a lasting force for stray animals, the families who adopt them, and the whole community that benefits from a more humane city.
